Way back in 2010 at Strathcona High School, we were more acquaintances than friends, often crossing paths at the same parties and events. But in the fall of 2012, things started to click. Florian, ever persistent, didn’t take no for an answer. After a little back-and-forth (and some ghosting from Alley), a close friend helped convince her to give Florian a chance, and we went on our first date. From there, we became very close very fast.

Our early dates were simple—hours spent talking in Florian’s parents' garage, braving the cold just to enjoy each other’s company. A shared love of movies and music brought us even closer, particularly The Lord of the Rings and heavy metal. We’ve enjoyed going to many concerts and festivals together, creating lasting memories and sharing plenty of laughs.

We love to travel together, and although we haven't explored as much of the world as we'd like, our international journeys have taken us to the warm beaches of Cuba and to Florian's hometown in Germany, where Alley had the unique opportunity to see where Florian grew up—a truly special experience for both of us. We've really enjoyed going on road trips around Alberta, discovering peaceful spots and enjoying the open road together. There’s so much more we're excited to experience in the future.

In June of 2015, we took the next step and moved in together, with Dorian, Alley’s cat, graciously allowing Florian to join the family. Since then, as two self-proclaimed animal lovers (and apparently part-time pet wranglers), our household has expanded. Now, we share our home with our dog Bonnie and two cats, Arnie and Lucy. They keep things lively and remind us daily of the chaotic joy pets bring!

In June 2022, Florian finally found the courage to pop the question while we were in Waterton, Alberta. It was the perfect moment to take this next step of our lives together. (Guess June is our month for big steps!)

After almost thirteen years together, we’re so grateful to have shared this journey surrounded by the love and support of our amazing family and friends. We are beyond excited to have you all here to celebrate this big day with us, and we can’t wait to make more incredible memories together—filled with laughter, love, and plenty of dancing!
